Move over Tesla; there’s a new kid (electric car) on the block.
With the introduction of Hyundai’s electrified addition, they’ve made a clear move against their more traditional, petrol-powered friends … In particular, they’ve launched their second electric car, the Kona Electric – the newest semi-affordable, pluggable vehicle.
Sure it looks great, but what’s got everyone talking is the ad campaign behind this new star player in Hyundai’s range. And if you haven’t heard of ‘Mopsters’ already, you have now.
The neon-accented campaign aims to show that electric cars can be stylish, fun to drive and accessible to mainstream audiences. With the ‘Mopsters’ on show, twerking and dancing alongside the Kona, the company have left behind the traditional ‘car gliding along a Pacific highway approach.’
It’s an exciting time, as we get to see a shift in the automotive industry, and introducing new electric vehicles with some fun may be the way to get more of us on board sooner.
The agency responsible for creative is Innocean Australia, their director, Steve Jackson chimed in about their approach “our last iteration is just as fun and proves green isn’t boring. And, if the car is completely electric, then our campaign should be electric too.”
With a list of features as long as your leg … the Kona may just be the most valuable player in the elecky game and especially when compared with its petrol-powered pals, it’s pretty impressive.
Beyond the fun of the ad, and before you start thinking of switching teams entirely, it’s essential you’re set up at home. Other than ensuring you plug your car into the correct power point (you’ll need to chat to Hyundai and a qualified electrician about that), you also have to consider your finances.
The Kona Electric starts at $59,990 which sets the Kona Electric up to be around $15K more than its entry-level competitors. Now, we get those numbers may seem daunting, and switching from a petrol-powered car to an electric vehicle may also seem significant, but despite that, we can guarantee you the shift is well-and-truly happening.
